*Job Fair 2012 - Councillor Michael Thompson & Councillor Glenn De Baeremaeker Annual Job Fair - Friday, April 20, 2012 from 10am - 4pm at Scarborough Civic Centre 150 Borough Drive 

The Toronto labour market today is more competitive than ever and skilled, able-bodied individuals looking for work are exploring every avenue to find meaningful and rewarding employment. Our 2011 Job Fair fills the dual role of promoting the goals of its corporate participants and providing a forum for a large, motivated group of skilled workers to talk with you about your organization and the career opportunities it offers.  The Job Fair and Career Training initiative will demonstrate how the public sector, community and private enterprise can work together to provide a forum for job seekers and employers to explore a range of opportunities. - Over 30 employers from industries including financial services, retail, administrative professional services, fire & police, placement agencies, health care, transportation & food & beverage.

*Councillor Michael Thompson Annual Community Environment Days: Reuse, Recycle and Safely Dispose - Date: TBA from 10:00am to 2:00pm at McGregor Community Centre 2231 Lawrence Avenue East.

 Do your part in creating a cleaner, greener and more liveable Toronto. What better way to live green than to attend Councillor Michael Thompson Annual Community Environment Day event.  Bring us your unwanted, used and unused household items and you will help reduce emissions, protect our climate, and clean our air.  Extend the life of a product by offering it to someone for reuse. Reduce the amount of waste going to landfill and ensure that it is properly recycled.  Ensure that hazardous waste materials are disposed of safely.  All the Community Environment Days need is you. So hit your closets, basements, attics and garages for all the goods you can spare. 

 * Scarborough Canada Day Parade - Sunday July 1, 2012 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm
The 45th Annual Canada Day Parade begins at 4 p.m. west of the Scarborough Civic Centre on Brimley Road, ending at Lawrence Avenue East and Brimley Road at about 6:00 p.m. The parade will feature marching bands, drum and bugle corps, Miss Toronto, antique cars, clowns and floats. More information is available by calling 416-396-7566. Admission is free.

 *Taste of Lawrence - Lawrence Ave. E. to be closed from Warden Ave. to Birchmount Rd.

 Councillor Michael Thompson and The Wexford Heights Business Improvement Area-comprised of more than 245 member businesses presents this showcase of unique flavors found throughout Scarborough.  *5th Annual Councillor Thompson's Movie Night - Wednesday, August 1, 2012 from 8:00pm to 11:00pm at McGregor Community Centre, 2231 Lawrence Avenue. (Rain date - Thursday August 2, 2012)

  *8th Annual Councillor Michael Thompson Christmas Skate - Date: TBA from 12:00pm to 2:00pm at McGregor Community Centre, 2231 Lawrence Avenue.
